3 tips to get your baby to sleep
So there’s no manual for this parenting thing. Therefore like others, you have turned to the internet for hopeful advice, thus stumbling upon this blog. Here are 3 tips to get your baby to sleep.
Let the baby cry themselves to sleep
Sometimes even after you have changed the diapers and refreshed bottles the baby is just cranky. If you can’t figure out what’s wrong try leaving the baby in a secured area and disappearing from sight for 10 to 15 min. Sometimes the babies just need time to calm down. This method can be effective but do not ignore your children. Keep an eye on them to make sure that nothing is really wrong. I only recommend doing this for a maximum of 15 minutes. If the baby is not quiet within this time frame it’s time go back in and try something different.
Sing to the baby
Lullabies or even the lyrics to your favorite song will soothe your baby to sleep. If your not a singer turn on your favorite radio stAtion. Smartphone apps like Songza and Spotify have dedicated stations that strictly play lullabies specifically. The lullaby has been popular for many years. You can learn more about the origin of the lullaby here.
If all else fails whip out the car seat, strap the baby in and go for a ride. Sure it seems like a lot of work but it’s almost guaranteed to work. Sometimes it doesn’t take more than one lap around the block. Sometimes maybe a late night run to McDonald’s will do the job. Either way this tried and true method has been reliably putting kids to sleep faithfully for many years. I find the other steps normally partially make the baby sleepy sometimes but this is the knockout blow. As mentioned, its a lot of work but the goal is to get the baby sleep by any means.
